Russian Crown Jewel & Fabergé Lecture

Saturday October 30, 2004
GADSDEN--IRINA POLYNINA, Director of the Moscow Kremlin’s Diamond Fund, will be in Gadsden on Monday, November 8, 2004, to present a program at the Gadsden Center for Cultural Arts at 4 p.m. Her slide presentation will include the story of the Russian crown jewel and Fabergé objects from the Kremlin Collection as they relate to Tsar Nicholas and his wife Alexandra—the last Russian Rulers. Ms. Polynina is the world’s leading authority on this subject.

The program is free to the public with generous support from Gadsden State Community College, The University of Alabama in Gadsden & the Gadsden Center for Cultural Arts. The reception is immediately following the presentation.

Also on hand will be Alex Caldwell, President of Vivian Alexander of Maurice, Louisiana. His “CORONATION EGG” will be featured in the movie OCEANS 12 which will premiere in the United States on December 10, 2004. The egg and a select group of objects made in the style of Fabergé by Vivian Alexander artisans will be on display that day only.

Ms. Polynina was in Gadsden in 1992 and it is exciting to welcome her back to the United States after such a long absence. Her next lecture will be at the Newark Museum in New Jersey on November 14, 2004.
