Concerts in the Park Schedule

Monday May 16, 2005
The Arts Council, Inc. is pleased to announce the 2005 Concerts in the Park summer concert series. At this year’s concert series, attendees will be glad to see their favorite bands as well as some new additions to the concert series. There are several bands making their Concerts in the Park debut, including: Mambo Gris Gris, Short Bus, Young at Heart, and The Valley Cats.

On July 18, we’ll be kicking off Armed Forces Week. Buckler will open the evening with an acoustic pop-rock set. Then, The 249th Army Band of the West Virginia Army National Guard will perform patriotic tunes. This concert features military vehicles and equipment on display as well as a fireworks finale.

Concerts in the Park will celebrate Huntsville’s Bicentennial on July 25 and August 1. Rocket City Chorus and Olde Towne Brass will entertain the crowd with patriotic music on July 25. The next week, The Songbyrds and the Madison Mountain Top Band will perform bluegrass music.

Reunion is back this year, opening the concert series on June 6. This rock-n-roll oldies group will have the audience dancing to the hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s.

The concerts will begin on Monday, June 6, and run through September 5. The concerts run from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the exception of the season finale concert, which will start at 6:00 p.m. and end at 9:00 p.m. The concerts are held each Monday in Big Spring International Park, near the corner of Williams and Church Street, in downtown Huntsville.

The concert series is open to the public and free of charge. Blankets, lawn chairs, and picnics are encouraged. Snacks, pizza and soft drinks will be available for sale.

Concerts in the Park is a co-production of The City of Huntsville through its Division of Recreation Services and Landscape Management and The Arts Council, Inc. For more information, call 256-519-ARTS or visit their website at www.artshuntsville.org.
