Huntsville Insider Info

Wednesday June 15, 2005
Here's some tips and clues I found out about Huntsville this week: (1) This Summer, Fear Factor Home Invasion will Invade households across America to challenge you to a stunt right at your doorstep. They will be visiting Huntsville! For more info, email Huntsville@fearfactor.com.

(2) Huntsville residents are among the nation's safest drivers, at least according to Allstate Insurance Co.'s inaugural "America's Best Drivers Report." Huntsville ranked 4th among safe drivers.

(3) On the downside: A nonprofit group, Trust for America's Health, ranked Alabama the "fattest state" in the nation last year.

(4) I thought the new Herbie Fully Loaded movie was just for kids...but not so. There's two Volkswagon Clubs in Huntsville and they'll be "appearing" at the premiere of the movie on June 22 from 6 pm until the end of the second show. If you have a "bug", you might want to join H20 Tuning or North Alabama Volkswagon Club.

(5) I just found Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar in the Target Center on Carl T. Jones. They are open until midnight through the week and 1 a.m. on the weekends. Mondays they offer 99 cent kids meals with beverage for 12 and under; Tuesdays is 35 cent wings and Wednesdays is 50 cent legs. Great place to go for dessert after a game, concert or show.

(6) Bruster's on Cecil Ashburn Drive is fabulous. Their "real" ice cream is so superior to Dairy Queen, I doubt I'll ever go back to DQ! Bruster's makes their ice cream fresh every day in the store.

(7) Through the Garden Gate went on sale this week at Brooks and Collier, Harrison Brothers Hardware, Shaver's Books, and other local bookstores. Historic Huntsville Foundation benefits from the sale of the book.

(8) Huntsville is #45, Birmingham is #30, Montgomery is #16 and Mobile is #14, according to Old Spice's Top 100 Sweatiest Cities in America...
