Big Spring Jam 5K Run & 1-Mile Fun Run

The annual Big Spring Jam 5K Run and 1 mile Fun Run will formally launch the second day of this year’s music festival in downtown Huntsville on Saturday, September 24th, 2005.

The City of Huntsville Recreation and Landscape Management Department and corporate sponsor Knology will present the event beginning at 8:00am at the corner of Church and Monroe streets next to the Historic Huntsville Depot. The run will move through the beautiful downtown historic district before finishing at Veterans Park at the corner of Washington and Monroe streets.

The first 500 pre-registered runners receive a one day pass to the Big Spring Jam Music Festival, which will be held Friday, September 23rd through Sunday the 25th.

The 5K run is certified by USA Track and Field and is a competitive event that begins at 8:00am to be followed by a 1 mile run to encourage family participation.

Fees for the 5K run are $16 per participant until September 19th. Entries received by mail after that date will be returned. Fun run entries are $8 per person.

On race day, 5K runners pay a $25 registration fee and Fun runners pay $8. Registration will be from 6:00am to 7:30am at race day packet pickup located at the chamber of commerce building at 225 Church Street.

Huntsville, Alabama’s Big Spring Jam is one of the largest music festivals in the Southeastern United States. Since its debut in 1993, Big Spring Jam has donated almost half a million dollars to area charities, health and human services agencies and arts and entertainment organizations. Held annually in downtown Huntsville’s Big Spring International Park, the Jam is a major project of the not-for-profit Big Spring Jam Foundation.
