Here's some interesting tips about Huntsville I learned this week: (1) Make a donation to The Land Trust and you might be the winner of their Auburn vs. Alabama Raffle. The winner will receive four game tickets, tailgate package donated by Smokey's Barbeque and will be driven to and from the game in Auburn on November 19 courtesy of Madison RV.

(2) This week is special: Seventy-five years ago Capt. Will Judy organized National Dog Week. It was to honor the dog and all the wondrous things that it has done for us.

(3) In a few weeks, all wireless phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls. YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS. To prevent this, call 888-382-1222 from your cell phone or register online at the National DO NOT CALL LIST.

(4) Speaking of cell phones, have you heard of ICE? It's a new idea to put just the phone number of a person to contact in case of emergency and then name it "ICE" in your list of phone contacts. This is really catching on. A paramedic can simply pick up your mobile phone, look up ICE and hit "Send" saving a lot of precious time and effort in getting your current medical info.

(5) Since we've not had any measurable amount of snow in the six years I've been back in Alabama, I was shocked when I found out we have a very active Ski Club in Huntsville. Janet Emery, whose cooridinating a trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming in March, assured me that the group takes many trips to the snow throughout the year.
