2005 Fayetteville…Host of Christmas Past Nov. 11-13

Monday October 31, 2005
The Fayetteville Host of Christmas Past, which will be November 11, 12 and 13th promises to once again fill the air with music, laughter and events for the entire family. This year some of the old favorites are back along with new events and activities for children and adults alike. The Fayetteville Lincoln County Museum will be open for tours and play host to Winter Wonderland as well as Holiday Lunch and Dinner. The jumping room will also be set up for those with boundless energy!!

Several new exhibits and scenes have been added to Winter Wonderland to give it a whole new look and children will especially enjoy the lifelike Santa, Grinch and other talking and mobile creatures.

New this year and borrowed from Martha Farrar, is her beautiful doll house where children can see into the many rooms complete with furniture and family. While at the Museum tour the many exhibits and enjoy the new Space and Missile Room which holds photos and displays that the male population will find especially interesting.

Adjacent to the Agriculture exhibits you will find the new Art Room with local artist’s works displayed.

Snow will also be a big hit for children under 12. The Snow play area will be located next to the Museum and near the Farmers Market. Yes, we will have snow again this year!

Also new this year will be the Rock-Climbing Wall, which will be in the same area close by the snow playground.

The Museum offers something for the old and young alike this year. Tickets will soon be on sale for the Holiday Lunch and Dinner held in the auditorium. For lunch a ham with all the trimmings and for dinner the traditional turkey. Lunch or Dinner at the Museum is a treat for the entire family.

Other events include old favorites such as Carriage Rides, Elves Workshop, Home Tours, Puppets, Storyteller, Crafts from the Past at the Stone Bridge Park, Snorkel and Mini Truck Rides, Musical performances on the Bandstand, Rock-n-Roll Christmas Concert by 4 on the Floor, Tour of Bethlehem, Craft Show, Classic Car Show, Candlelight Walking Tour, Cemetery Re-Enactment, Free Seminars and of course Santa Clause.

We are excited to have our High Tea back this year. Located in the basement of the ERA Ben Porter building, tickets will soon be on sale for this requested event .

The First Presbyterian Church will have Third World Countries Arts and Crafts on Saturday for buying those unique Christmas Presents. Look for Scrooge to be giving out pennies and complaining about the Christmas Spirit!

The Sons of the Confederate Veterans and the United Daughters of the Confederacy will once again add their colorful costumes and history to the hustle and bustle around the Courthouse Lawn.

The 13th Annual Fayetteville…Host of Christmas Past will bring thousands to our downtown area for a weekend of fun, food and early Christmas shopping. For more information call 433-1234, 993-0395 or visit our website at www.hostofchristmaspast.com.
