Here's what I learned about Huntsville this week: (1) If you always used to "talk-back" as a kid, you'll love the new feature at About.com: you can now leave your own personal "comments" on any of the blog entries on my home page.

(2) The Huntsville Chapter of Executive Women International is seeking applications from current non-traditional college students for a $1,500 scholarship for the 2006 summer or fall terms. Send application by Wednesday, April 19, 2006 to Lara Bryant, State Farm Insurance, 2051 Max Luther Dr, Huntsville, AL 35810. For more info, call 852-8502.

(3) Need last minute Easter gifts? The Botanical Garden's Gift Shop has 25% off "bunnies & chicks."

(4) The Museum Store at the Huntsville Museum of Art is having a Spring Fling Sale now through April 30. Everything in the store is 20-50% off.

(5) At Family Watchdog, you can enter your address in a form and then view a map of registered sex offenders that live near you. If you click on the location, a window pops up with a photo and description of the offender, his/her address, and the crime.

(6) Pine Hill Day Camp in Somerville is having a PreCamp Tour with an opportunity to meet the directors on Sunday, May 7th at 2:30 p.m. For more info, call (256) 778-8433.

(7) Alabama is one of 23 states with a Prescription Drug Monitoring Registry. An estimated one in five controlled substance prescriptions is either taken by a person for whom it is not prescribed or it is not used for its intended purpose.
