All of Alabama may be rooting for Birmingham native, Taylor Hicks, on 2006 American Idol...but maybe not. Who is your choice for the next American Idol? I admit that I have my favorite (guess who?!) and I vote for him each week...but then again, I think he is the best each week! Who are you voting for? Katherine McFee- she’s the best singer. I love the personalities of Taylor and sometimes Kelly (though she;s a little annoying) but for American Idol the singer- katherine has it down pat!

Taylor all the way. I check on-line everyday to see what the message boards are saying about him. All the various sites claim that he is the most popular of all the singers. I hope so!! He looks like George Clooney to me!! Go Taylor! You’re awesome!!!

Taylor is Birmingham’s gem now shared with the rest of the world. He’s just an amazing singer, great performer but such a likeable personality! Do you have more like him hidden away?
Taylor Hicks will be the next American Idol. He’s talented, unique and passionate about music. Also, his fans are obssessed with seeing him every week and they understand the only way that is going to happen is by voting.

Been a fan of Taylor since auditions in Vegas. If he is on SNL you KNOW the guy is being noticed. Taylor is going to win this thing for sure.
Taylor is my favorite all the way. This is my first season watching, and it’s all because of Taylor and that beautiful voice singing Sam Cooke at his audition.

Taylor is already famous. I like Taylor, but he already has his foot in the door of fame. However, Elliott Yamin is the underdog, and he has been the most consistent performer so far. Elliott Yamin has evolved to champion people who are talented but underappreciated. Just like what Paula said, Elliott is the true American Idol.
Yes indeed the contest is fixed, fortunately for Hicks and his fans anyway. I have actually seen the show favor Taylor since the beginning it is so obvious if you just now a little about marketing. How else can you explain someone who has given below average lounge singer quality performances 80% of the time continue to advance every week. AI has beaten it over the viewers head that you must love Taylor Hicks and that blatant shout out by Rebecca Romanijn for Taylor to sing was another cheap way to promote him and get 35 million americans to see that she loves AI so they should all come out and buy tickests for her new movie x-men III. What a lovely cross promotional marketing move, indeed. Yes I’m sure she sits at home every Tuesday and Wednesday to catch Taylor on AI, not counting last week when she came to the studio to see him perform live and promote her movie of course. There’s no need to vote when they are going to unfairly hand Taylor the win.
I hope Taylor wins. He deserves it. He is so genuine. I love him. Simon hasnt liked him from the start. Then maybe he will recognize his talent as entertaining instead of criticism.

Well, I agree that the producers and execs initially pick who they want to push to win AI from the start, however, in AI 5 they were pimping Chris Daughtry for the win. However, it backfired on them. I have every episode from the final 24 on and watch it over and over. From the first week forward, except for two), all three judges — and mostly Simon, although Paula was adamant many times — Chris was adulated over and over again. To me, he just screamed every week and sounded the same. I don’t dislike rockers and truly like Bo Bice’s sound, but Chris was just a screamer. But because they pimped Chris on and on and on, it turned many people off. I know several who were Chris fans and quit voting for him because of the too obvious pimping. If I were the other contestants, I would have just walked off then and there. But Taylor had a plan — he had good business sense, had marketing skills, knew his music inside and out and never gave up. He gained fans week after week. Actually he picked up most of his fans from the day of his audition on. Taylor had become so popular and performed so well that no one could stop the obvious. Taylor was quickly becoming the one to beat. And, in the end, no one could.
Taylor won American Idol the night the producers’ pick, Chris, was eliminated.
