Is "American Idol" Rigged?

Wednesday April 26, 2006
Based on fans, Taylor Hicks, the 29-year old Blues singer from Birmingham, Alabama should win "American Idol" easily...but will he? Doing a Google search on his name, "Taylor Hicks" brings up over 9 million articles! Of course, not all of those are "our" Taylor Hicks (maybe a common name?), but a lot of them are. If you go to Yahoo Groups, you can see that more people are signed up for the Taylor Hicks mailing lists than all the other contestants combined. The Soul Patrol, AKA Taylor Hicks' fans, are not going to give up on voting their favorite into the top position on "American Idol"...or is it all in vain? Who Do You Want to Win 2006 American Idol? Has the American Idol winner already been predetermined by the show's executives? What's a fan to do? Vote in our poll...then leave your thoughts in the comments section.

The show has it’s favorites from the start,I believe the producers and (or) Simon know right away who they are going to pimp to win,for example Simon does not know how to market Taylor, and the bottom line is money,so he discounts his talent and tears him down every opportunity he has,it’s so obvious who his pick is.I think if we all voice our thoughts on a poll like this and it’s sent to the” powers that be” at Fox, and we boycott the sponsors products it may get their attention.I will not watch Idol anymore after this one is over. They need to know,’that we know’ how things are being done, and how different some contestants are treated,it was not fair that Simon told Taylor from the first he was not Idol material and should be singing back up somewhere. How did he know this as he never gave him a chance. And has not given him a chance since then..this show is not honestly interested in anything but money..just my opinion..

ALERT!
Many Taylor fans, who do NOT have Cingulair as their primary cell carrier have purchased Cingulair pre-paid “Go Phones” just to be able to text vote for Taylor on the theory that they can vote more within the 2 hours. BUT CINGULAIR ADMITS THAT THERE ARE PROBLEMS WITH THE GO PHONES and it may only count for ONE vote the entire 2 hours. Please alert fans that Land Lines may be better!

I have it on good authority that the show’s outcome is predetermined by the producers. Your votes DO NOT count.
Taylor Hicks will be this years winner.

Part of what people hate about Simon (and there are many things to hate) is that he’s right. He know show business. And a goofy-looking, mediocre singer who dances like a white boy who looks 20 years older than he is will not sell millions of records in the long run. Guaranteed. He may win this year but AI will waste a ton of money on his record contract and have little to show for it afterward. That would be their motivation for “influencing” the outcome because they don’t want to be stuck with a guaranteed contract with a unmarketable product. And that’s what Taylor is. The Soul Patrol will forget Taylor and move on to the next underdog next season. Count on it.

I have to disagree with you–Taylor Hicks is here to stay…Now Ruben Studdard won and where is he now? So, American Idol doesn’t always pick right if they are “rigging” it. Look at Fantasia, too–not much of a career. At least not compared to Kelly Clarkson & Clay Aiken…with Bo Bice right behind them. Watch out–here comes Taylor Hicks…and he’s just going to get bigger. He’s got the voice and the entertainment value!

this show might as well be called The Cingular Extortion Racket. no way is taylor nearly tied with anyone in real life. he is far and away the winner. the Soul Patrol got sucker-punched this week but are back in force. it’s hard when the powers that be won’t open enough phone lines and the most popular person’s lines are busy 79% of the time. there are lots of folks that don’t use text messaging, have limited means, etc., so making them buy cingular feels like extortion. i only hope taylor hicks, that pure soul, gets away from these creeps as soon as possible. we will all be there, buying his CDs (i already have under the radar) and going to his concerts. when the show’s over, and the careers get going, everyone will see how things really stand. SOUL PATROL!!! ps i hope taylor and elliott go on tour together; they are good friends and both are real artists.

I hope that Taylot Hicks wins. He is a great performer. His voice and dance moves are awesome. There are two left and if Taylor does not win , then i will believe that it is rigged. His performance is far more better that Kat.

I don’t believe that anyone who makes it to the top in these shows can actually sing…

The looks of the some of the performers change from week to week (watch the stage clips versus the ‘visiting my town’ clips)…

The judges often seem to have a vested interest in this…which, in itself, is bothersome…

The singers tend to sound ‘overly’ like who they are imitating…and each other…camera and mike tricks?…magic?…there’s something not right here…

there is no consistency in how the winners are chosen…almost as though they are set up to fail through what they are “made” to say in interviews rather than their actual singing…none of which ever seems to be real…we always seem to get the doctored album version…I mean, even Jewel, who rose to stardom…had a first album that sounded worse than most of these kids do live…then she sounded like I sound when I sing the songs…

It seems to me, that these shows may be a way to filter through a bunch of kids who’s names have already been written on checks, possibly since birth…

the baker sold the shop and left all of the pies he baked us…he had our names written on each piece…the man who bought the shop, copied all of the names down and legally changed the names of his friends and family…

while we were sleeping…
