Taylor Hicks In Final 3 on "American Idol"

Thursday May 11, 2006
Well, Alabama has done it again: Alabama born & bred, Taylor Hicks , is in the final three to win the title of "American Idol." Taylor Hicks heads home to Alabama for the traditional "return home tour" that the top finalists take every year. Helena, Alabama turned out for Bo Bice and Birmingham turned out for Ruben Studdard the second year of "American Idol." Governor & Mrs. Riley recently sent Taylor Hicks a basket of Alabama grown and manufactured products as a congratulation and thank you gift. The good press that Alabama music is getting on "American Idol" is hard to ignore...although judge Simon Cowell tries his best to make light of it. What do you think of this year's "American Idol" show? Share your comments on the link below, after you vote for your favorite. And, by the way, Do You Think "American Idol" is Rigged?

I am a Huntsville native. However, I do not feel obligated to vote for Taylor. He’s a goofball lounge lizard who has a novelty appeal on the show but will not be able to sell CDs in the real world. All the Alabamians who vote for him just because he’s from our state would never run out and buy a CD of his - unless he starts singing about sexy tractors or bombing Iran. He may sell copies of his first album but he will fade just like Reuben Studdard. Katherine and Chris are the only ones who will move product over the long haul.
