Alabama ALIVE! features Taylor Hicks

Monday May 29, 2006
Good news for Taylor Hicks' fans: Alabama ALIVE!, the state of Alabama’s exclusive lifestyle publication, will feature Season 5 American Idol Taylor Hicks, of Hoover, Alabama, in its upcoming issue. The issue is expected to be published by Aug. 1. Last year, Alabama ALIVE! featured American Idol Season 4 finalist, Bo Bice, on the cover. It sold out before coming off the press. This year you can get the August issue at Books-A-Million bookstores, by subscribing to the magazine, or by buying individual copies from the Alabama ALIVE! website. They also have copies of the special program they printed for a charity event in Birmingham for sale. (photo courtesy of Alabama ALIVE)

Last year's Alabama ALIVE issue that featured American Idol runner-up Bo Bice included a 10-page spread with stories of Bice’s childhood, photos from the family scrapbook, anecdotes from friends and family and his journey to stardom. The feature on Taylor Hicks promises to be bigger and better. To guarantee a copy of the Taylor Hicks issue, subscribe today. Single issues will be sold once all subscriptions are filled.

Besides Taylor HIcks the August 2006 issue will include updates on the other Alabama Idols--Ruben Studdard, Bo Bice and Diana DeGarmo. This is one American Idol fan keepsake that everyone will be wanting to own!

Beware Taylor Hicks fans. I was tricked into buying a “year’s subscription” last year so that I would receive the August Bo Bice issue and subsequent issues for the upcoming year (with promises that Bo might be featured again). I didn’t receive the special issue until November and have never received another one. Don’t fall for the subscription. Buy one at a store if you can.

I echo the warning. I also ordered the Bo Bice issue last year. It was due in August, not published until late October or November, and many people (including me) never received our copies.

(7) Allen says:

I rec’d the magazine and have rec’d all of the copies I have been promised and to be honest not living in Alabama I have found it to be one of the best I have ever read. I will say this no other magazine did as much as they did on Bo and I bet they will do more on Taylor.

(8) Darla says:

I have subscribed to the magazine for two years and have rec’d every copy and it is by far the best coverage of state and national I have read. The ads are kept to a minimum and storys, well no one else has such indepth coverage. If you have paid just call your credit card company they will fix it. I have even had them speak to my local group and he was a great speaker. I have no problem telling you to order this magazine. I bet the Taylor issue will be specatcular.
Go Soul Patrol.

I’ve never had a problem with “Alabama ALIVE!” either. I consider them a superior magazine, on the scale of “Southern Living.” I got my Bo Bice issue just fine–and it was fabulous!

(10) Sassy says:

My advice “Buy” “Buy” “Buy” I got the mag as a present and the first copy was BO WOW I was shocked I gave out 5 as christmas presents and Im going to get some Taylor and do the same next year. SO I have bought 6 subs and everything is fine and Im buying more for next year. My suggestion call them and see ifthey answer the phone or return an email.

(11) Shaye says:

More people will stop and pick up this magazine than any other I have sitting out. I had to fight my friends from stealing the copy with Bo. My Bo copy was late but the publisher sent me info where it had been mailed and then I had to fight with the postal service and they found it there being read by an employee. If you use a credit card you have nothing to worry about. Go Soul Patrol lets show the Bice Squad who is the best (I’M a card carrying member of that one as well)

(14) lydia says:

I, too, paid for a subscription last year and only received one magazine, and that came only after repeated emails asking for it and then, finally, a demand that my money be refunded. Only then did the magazine show up and it was December. Can’t recommend. I remember the Bo boards being full of complaints from people who didn’t receive their magazine.

I have been trying for last hour to connect to Alabama Alive link but it’s down. Must be overrun with requests.

I got my Bo Bice issue the next week…have it signed and framed in my office. The article was great and I can’t wait to get the Taylor copy. Are y’all sure you are talking about the same magazine? I had no problems with them. mindsafari@aol.com

I had a problem around lunch getting thru but the site is up and running.
I bought 5 copies last year and rec’d all of them The post office banged one up and they sent me another. I live in ARK and I was the talk of the town. My suggestion is buy now before they run out like they did last year.
No one preordered and then when it came out BAM everyone wanted it.
I read the chat room but it was always the same one or two people that just wanted to complain. Seem they complained about everything. Best coverage I have seen and I will buy another one. I read they sold 4200 single issues Do we really expect the mail service to get it right. COme on. Go Taylor I love the gray hair and harmonica

(19) ben says:

I live in LA and I thought I really wouldnt care about reading about AL. I got the Bo issue last year and I enjoyed the other stories as much as the section on Bo. That is why I subscribed and I havent had any problems. Tell us if the magazine is any good. That is what I thinkis the most important DId they produce what they said they would. Yes they did End of story I got more than I paid for. Most of the other magazines just did a page or two. I even bought the Bo Bice Concert program the other day Rec’d it today. Now that is a value. DO that and try them out before you subscribe.

(20) dana says:

I made my husband order Alabama ALIVE last year and like every guy he moaned and groaned and wanted to know why I would be nterested in a magazine from Alabama and we live in TX I told him BO BICE and now with Taylor its a bonus. Ask him who gets the magazinefirst and reads it. I can always find it in his office (bathroom) hidden of course. We have nothing but great things to say about the story’s, the way it looks and what I like is the sotry’s actually tell you something they dont leave you wanting more. If you are concerned get it at books a million I spent the money and it was worth it. I bet 10 of my friends have taken it to read. That should tell you what type of mag it is.
dana in dallas doing the Taylor jig waiting on it to come out.

I love to hear people pile on I subscribe to this fine publication and have never had a problem. People kill me you paid for something with a credit card and didnt get it let the CC handle it I havent heard anyone say anything about the quality of the magaizine other than good. Stop complaining on the internet and do soemthing about it. The magazine is not a waste of money and YOU can not stay in business by treating people that way. They say one unhappy customer is equal to 7 one happy customer making a comment on a chat board I have heard is worth thousands.

Beware, out-of-state purchasers! Service is unreliable. Received my special ‘Bo Bice’ issue only after repeated inquiries, FOUR MONTHS after it was ordered.

(23) Leah says:

I ordered the Bo Bice issue of Alabama Alive last summer, advertised to be published and mailed in August, and finally received it in late November after sending several e-mails. Yes, the issue was very nice, but if things are still run the same way they were last year, my advice is that you shouldn’t hope to receive your issue in a hurry. I’m very happy for all of you who did receive your magazines in a timely manner, but I know of many, many people who either did not receive theirs at all or received it very late. Buyer beware.

(25) A Concerned Taylor Fan says:

I ordered my copy of the supposed August 1 issue of Alabama Alive with Taylor Hicks back in June. I have not received a copy as yet, and I’ve written twice now with no response. The least these people could do is post an update on their website to inform us. From what I know, they have made a killing in sales for this Taylor Hicks edition, and here we all are with nothing to show for the $18 we spent. I’m highly upset and about to approach my bank to report credit card fraud on their part. I’m VERY upset over this issue!!!!!

(26) amp says:

another disgruntled subscriber here…I paid for my subscription in May and have yet to receive my copy of the magazine. I’ve emailed them at least 4 times and received no reply. Since they have my money, one would expect the courtesy of a reply, but oh no! I won’t be renewing my subscription next year, obviously.

(27) Alabama Alive are crooks says:

As of November 1, 2006 No one has recieved the issues of Alabama Alive featuring Taylor Hicks. This magazine is a sham. I hope that everyone will ban together and file a class action law suit against these crooks.

November 20, 2006 at 2:44 pm
(28) Scam says:

As of November 20, I haven’t received my copy which was paid for in May. I have emailed repeatedly. I reported them to my bank for credit card fraud. Unfortunately, I believed the posting on the Alabama Alive website that the magazine was in the mail for too long. It’s too late to get a refund through my bank.

(29) amp says:

Well guess what I FINALLY got yesterday, November 20th??? When a company treats me with disrepect, I tend not to get very excited about their product. I’m sure the magazine would be great if I wasn’t already so disatisfied given all the unanswered calls and emails…and they didn’t respond to the BBB’s calls either. What a way to run a business! I hope Alabama has more Idols to come, but I won’t be buying this magazine again.
