Bluegrass Abounds in Big Spring Park

Friday July 28, 2006
Concerts in the Park will feature Pinhook Creek Bluegrass Band and Mike Ball & the Madison Mountaintop Band on Monday, July 31, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in Big Spring International Park, near the corner of Williams and Church Street, in downtown Huntsville.

Pinhook Creek Bluegrass Band is a six member band that has been performing together for 20 years. The band got its start playing for a youth group, which led to gigs at UAH, the Madison Gazebo, Panoply, and with the Huntsville Community Chorus. Pinhook Creek is excited to bring the sounds of bluegrass to Concerts In the Park.

Mike Ball & The Madison Mountaintop Band has been performing together for the past 5 years. They have performed at previous Concerts in the Park, the Asbury Methodist Dinner Theater, and various venues around town. The band will perform traditional bluegrass music, along with some country tunes and a couple of surprises!

This free concert series is open to the public and takes place every Monday from Memorial Day through the second weekend in September. Blankets, lawn chairs, and picnics are encouraged. Domino’s Pizza, soft drinks, snacks, and ice cream novelties will be on sale during the concert.

Concerts in the Park is a co-production of the City of Huntsville through its Division of Recreation and Landscape Management and The Arts Council, Inc. For more information, please call 256-519-2787 x 205 or visit us on the web at www.artshuntsville.org.
