Talladega Speedway--On The Fast Track

Monday April 9, 2007
Talladega Speedway in Talladega, Alabama opened on September 14, 1969. It is NASCAR's most competitive and largest track in the United States. Talladega Speedway property covers approximately 3,000 acres, which includes the track site and surrounding parking areas. The infield area is 2.12 acres.

The newly re-surfaced Talladega Speedway track is a 2.66-mile tri-oval, with turned banked at 33 degrees. The track is 48-feet wide with an additional 12-foot apron.

I recently got a private tour of Talladega Speedway (with a ride around the track in the offical pace car), the International Motor Sports Hall of Fame, and a taste of the Alabama Wildlife Federation's Cook-Off (who were having a fundraiser at the Speedway). Here's a look at my exiting day in Talladega.
