Huntsville Insider Info

Here's some things I learned in Huntsville this week:
Wondering how to get rid of those old phone books? You can put them in the blue recycle bins now through January 31st. Some schools are having a contest to see who can collect the most, so check with friends with children. You can also leave them by Coca-Cola (sorry, not Pepsi!) vending machines for pickup.
The Madison County Beekeepers Association is offering a free Beekeeping Class. The four sessions are January 8 & 23 and February 5 & 20 from 6:30-8:30 pm at the Charles Stone Agricultural Services Building. For more info or to register, call (256) 883-9601.
Emma's Tea Room on Pratt Avenue offers a special "Mommy (or Grandma!) and Me" Tea on the last Tuesday of each month from 8:30-9:30 a.m. for little ones old enough to sit still long enough for a special outing. They also have special "Homeschoolers Events" for the winter-spring semester. For more info, call (256) 489-5850.
One of my favorite places to eat is fast becoming Cafe Michael in the Interior Marketplace. The menu is constantly changing and they are now open for dinner on Friday & Saturday nights until 9:30 pm.
If your New Year's resolution includes learning to dance, you might want to check this out: Kinesthetic Cue Dance Club will start a new series of Salsa Classes beginning Tuesday, January 8th from 7-8 pm. For more info, call (256) 464-8477.
Beginning in 2008 with the first Saturday, Jan. 5th, the Von Braun Astronomical Society will be presenting weekly astronomy related planetarium programs at 7 pm and, when weather permits, opportunities to view the night sky with their telescopes. Admission is $5 for Adults, $3 for Students, and free for those under 6.
Operation Clean City works with enforcement agencies to develop comprehensive litter and illegal dumping ordinances. They are asking for your help in catching people who are littering. If you see someone litter, write down the license plate number and description of the car and call the Litter Hotline at 53-CLEAN (532-5326) to report the occurrence. Help keep Huntsville beautiful!
