Beat the January Blahs...

If you're looking for something to do in January, then you need to check out all the things going on at the Huntsville Botanical Garden. The Garden has a variety of classes for people of all ages and experience. For more information or to reservee your space, call (256)430-3572, ext. 226.

Adult classes include:

  • "Transplant" class on January 6, 6 -8 pm.
    If you are new to the Huntsville area and confused about what you should be doing in the garden and when, this is the class for you. Harvey Cotten will walk you through a year of gardening in north Alabama. $20 for members.

  • "Transplant" class Part II on January 13, 6 - 8 pm
    Find out what are the best plants to grow in North Alabama and all about putting the "Right Plant in the Right Place." Once again, this class is taught by Harvey Cotten. $20 for members.

  • Take the Guesswork out of Pruning on Jan. 11, 2-4 pm or Jan. 17 10 - 12.
    Harvey Cotton will help you learn how and when to prune your plants correctly. Several hands-on examples will be included. $20 for members.

    Children's classes include:

  • Its 'Egg'citing on January 10, 9:30 - 11 am, for 4 to six year olds
    In this action packed class we'll do experiments, math activities and art projects that explore the incredible egg! $14 for members.

  • Chinese New Year on January 24, 9:30 - 11:30 am, for 5 - 8 year olds
    Let us bring some of this Far-Eastern holiday to your southern home. This class was full last time, so reserve your spot early! $18 for members.

  • The Deep Dark Secrets of Dogs on February 7, 9:30 - 11 am, for 5 - 7 year olds
    Learn how dogs communicate, why humans and dogs fits so well together, and experiment with canine physiology. $14 for members.
