Huntsville Weekend Weather...by James Payton

Wednesday January 7, 2009
On the weather map...High pressure will hang on to give us a nice Friday. A weak front will approach & bring us some clouds & perhaps a few showers on Saturday & Saturday night. Rainfall will not be all day & should remain light...thus this should not cause any additional flooding problems after the heavy rains this week. The front pulls through & gives us improving weather on Sunday...but will also drop the temperatures about ten degrees Sunday afternoon.

My official Tennessee Valley Weekend forecast...

For Friday...Partly cloudy. High 56.
Friday Night...Mostly cloudy. A brief shower possible late. Low 39.
Saturday...Cloudy with a few showers lingering around. High 54.
Saturday Night...Mostly cloudy. A shower possible early then partial clearing late. Colder with a low of 28.
Sunday...Partly cloudy & colder. High 44.

Heading to the Tennessee Titans AFC Divisional playoff game in Nashville...It will be cloudy with showers hanging around the Nashville area. Temperatures at kickoff will be in the mid 40s dipping into the 30s by the fourth quarter. Those weather conditions would seem to favor the Titans!

Last week's weather trivia question...What is the warmest New Year's Day on record in Huntsville? The answer was C. 79 degrees. This occurred on New Year's Day in 1952. Bonus points awarded if you also knew this is also the warmest temperature on record for the city for the entire month!

This week's trivia question...The coldest NFL game in history based on wind chill was playoff game on January 10, 1982. The temperature was 9 below zero...but the wind chill was an astounding 59 below zero! What NFL city was this game played at?

A. Cincinnati
B. Chicago
C. Green Bay
D. Buffalo

Have a great weekend everyone!
