Here's some things I learned this week:
  • Huntsville ALIVE is hosting a beer tasting – sponsored by Burritt on the Mountain and Old Towne Brewery – on July 9 from 6-8 p.m. at Burritt on the Mountain. Admission is $15 per person. RSVP to 536-2882 by Tuesday, July 7 so you can join in on the fun.
  • The Ellis Academy is now accepting 4th-7th Grade girls for part-time & full-time studies. The school is on an alpaca farm in Toney and offers girls a classical and whole-learning education within a Christian ethos. For more information, call (256) 420-8312.
  • A New Leash on Life, Inc. will be hosting it's second annual Wine & Dandy Benefit at the Chef's Table Restaurant on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at 6 pm. There will be food, wine, entertainment, and a silent auction.
  • American Idol finalist, Diana DeGarmo will be appearing in Huntsville at the Jim Parker Songwriter's Showcase at the VBC, on Friday, July 10th.
  • Hunters, check this out: free "The Wild Turkey In Alabama" book from Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division.
  • You can keep up with Huntsville Stars games and promotions on Facebook.
  • United will offer two daily non-stop flights to Chicago starting September 2, 2009.
  • Take a worldwide tour (from space!) of some of the most beautiful spots on the planet in NASA's "Earth as Art" gallery.
  • Here's another map for you: generic names for soft drinks around the country. I know when we lived in Iowa, we called it "pop"...but here in the South, it's "coke."
  • ... Check last week’s insider info to see items that might take place this week...
