
Scottsboro became famoous worldwide when a trial against nine black boys for raping two white women was brought to the nation's attention. The appeals of these trials that lead to death sentences & life imprisonment became the beginning of our modern civil rights movement. The trial of the Scottsboro Boys is a stain on Alabama's history and not something we're proud of. However, one local woman has spent 17 years collecting newspaper clippings, photographs, books & plays about the famous trial. Recently, a museum & cultural center opened in Scottsboro to commemorate the event. Here's some photos & some of the facts.
