The Greater Huntsville Humane Society sponsors two major fund raisers every year: the Dog Ball, which is in February, and "Paws In The Park," which is in October. "Paws in the Park" is held annually at Big Spring Park in downtown Huntsville. Some dogs waited patiently for the walk to start, but most were too excited to sit still.
The committee for "Paws in the Park" start working on the big event in February. In 2002, the park event was the 10th annual Walk Your Paws.
In 2002, there were over 287 dogs registered for the "Walk Your Paws" 1.5 mile stroll through the Twickenham district.
