Huntsville's Holiday Calendar of Events--Part 4

Events are color-coded for your convenience.  Events listed in green require money (that green stuff!); those in red are free--making you as jolly as old St. Nick in his red outfit!  Enjoy this list and take in as many activities as your time, energy and interests will permit.

Scenes of the Holidays -- Huntsville Museum of Art

Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thursday 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sunday 1 p.m.-5 p.m.
Delightful decorations on holiday trees, tasteful tablescapes and enchanting toys provided by the Museum Women's Guild will be on display.  The event is free and open to the public.

December 2
WAAY-TV Christmas Parade  --Downtown Huntsville
Theme:  "Songs of Christmas"       256-533-3131
This is Huntsville's official welcome to Santa Claus as he opens the Christmas season.  Parade begins at noon.  No admission charged.

December 2
Jingle Bell Run for Arthritis  -- Big Spring Gazebo  
A non-competitive and fun event for runners and walkers of all ages who will tie jingle bells to their shoelaces, don festive costumes and take to the streets.  This event is held statewide.  Start time is 7:45 a.m.  Pre-registration is $15;  $18 the day of the run.  Runners receive a long sleeve tee-shirt.  256-533-7722

Open Houses at Museums
Burritt Museum Mansion  10 a.m.-4 p.m.  (no charge)
Harrison Brothers 10 a.m. -4 p.m. (no charge)
Weeden House 10 a.m. -4 p.m. (no charge)
Early Works Museum  (9-5 p.m. and $1 admission charge) refreshments will be served
Historic Huntsville Depot  (9-5 p.m. and $1 admission charge)
Alabama Constitution Village  (9-5 p.m. and $1 admission charge)

December 2
"Scenes of the Holidays"     Public Reception
Huntsville Museum of Art
300 Church Street, Huntsville   256-535-4350  1-4 p.m. No admission charge.
Reception will feature Santa, music of the holidays and light refreshments as visitors enjoy the holiday display.  The Rocket City TubaChristmas Band will perform from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday.
