This newly constructed home, Stonewood, designed by local architect Bill Peters, harmonizes elegantly with the mountain landscape. The house at the end of the road located in Old Viduta joins the state park overlooking Monte Sanos north bluff and is less than a block from the site of Margaret Annes great, great grandparents summer home. Built of stained Mississippi Delta cypress and Alabama sandstone, the house is contemporary in design, featuring numerous gables, surprise angles, and a cathedral ceiling. Highlighting the kitchen are Mikes own custom designed stainless steel chandeliers, cabinet tops, and stove hood. The rustic modern décor is balanced with family antiques and an art collection including works by Howard Weeden, Nall Hollis, Ed Starnes, and Margaret Annes cousin, Huntsville native, Maurice Grosser. Landscaping is a blend of Japanese elements in an overall plan to restore the native forest sprinkled with wild flowers and indigenous plants.
