In September, 2000, Greg and his golden retriever, Midas, became Mountain residents when Greg purchased a plain, white house on the Boulevard. Recognizing the potential of the place, he began making improvements that are still in progress today. Many of the changes were intended to create more outdoor living spaces to make the house seem bigger. Improvements to the existing deck and the installation of three patio areas helped to bring the inside outside. Greg also added a stone walkway and wooden footbridge leading to the front door and a wide variety of perennials, groundcovers, and trees, as well as an herb garden, fire pit, landscape lighting, and a small greenhouse. To help define the spaces in the front yard and to help bufferbut not screenthe Boulevard, earthen berms were incorporated into the new landscaping. Greg also reconstructed the roof line with enlarged, overhanging eaves and a galvanized roof. Painting the exterior a more natural color helped to settle the house into its new surroundings.
