| Part 7: The Freeman House | |||||||||||||
This house was built in 1907 in the Colonial Revival style and acquired by the Freeman family in 1922. At some point during the home's occupancy by the Freeman family, Mrs. Freeman operated it as a boarding house. In 1991, the property was purchased by the adjoining Central Presbyterian Church and was restored and renovated to host receptions and church functions.
Today it also houses the Hawthorne Conservatory, a bequest of the late Marguerite Cartwright Hawthorne for her parents' church, to provide musical instruction for young students. These homes, along with two gardens are on the 2003 Historic Homes Tour. Check the Events Calendar for ticket information.
