............................ littlenell joined.............
AlHill Hello?
AlHill littlenell?
littlenell Hi, well I finally made it. Been trying for 3 weeks to get here, but something always happens.
AlHill Same here (much longer), but where is everybody?
littlenell My family comes from Tallapoosa County and Jefferson County. I live in Texas.
AlHill I can't believe there are nine people here, but seven don't speak.
littlenell All right everyone, talk! lol
AlHill Who 7 where in Tallapoosa & Jefferson?
AlHill 7 = &
A63Sprint I just noticed I was in here! Didn't think I ever got in
littlenell does anyone know how to locate an area shown on the census? My family was located at: Post Office DeSoto in the 1860 census and I'm trying to find out where that is.
littlenell Hi Sprint
AlHill If I can spot it, I've got a book called Dead Towns of AL.
A63Sprint Hi. Jasper, Al native here
AlHill You've checked with your local P.O.?
littlenell Let me give you the other area - in 1870 it says Rome Beat#14-Jones Road. If you wouldn't mind looking up both , I'd appreciate it.
............................ carolyn left.............
AlHill Hi, Sprint, I'm in Montgomery, but originally from Mooresville, near Decatur/Huntsville.
littlenell No, actually all I've done is look at a map. E-mail the census dept and write Dadeville Library and Bend National Library.
A63Sprint I'm in OR but will soon be full timing and heading down to see where I came from
littlenell Where are you from in Oregon?
............................ VickyAL124 left.............
A63Sprint Live in Keizer now, was near Portland for a long time
............................ Blueiris left.............
littlenell My kids live in Springfield.
AlHill Nell, I still can't find that book, but if you'll e-mail me after we leave here, I'll look for them tomorrow, okay?
A63Sprint Duck fans?
littlenell they are coming to Texas this summer. Can't wait. Season Ticket holders.
AlHill Wonder why Vicky was here if she couldn't talk?
littlenell AlHill, how do I get your e-mail address?
AlHill alfbhill@aol.com
A63Sprint waiting for them to enlarge stadium then I'll head out after last home game!
littlenell Thanks.
littlenell We are coming to Alabama around the end of April, so I can go cemetery hopping.
A63Sprint anyone know if it's illegal to spread ashes in AL?
AlHill Nell, if I don't find them, I'm sure your local post office can look them up for you--free.
littlenell I'll check with the PO tomorrow.
AlHill I know it's done, Sprint. My aunt had hers done that way. May be illegal, but not enforced.
A63Sprint Good, I know where the tree is that my dad proposed to my mom is. Gonna let them be there again
littlenell I have a picture taken in 1907 of the Philomathic Society, it was taken in Birmingham, I think. If anyone is interested in the men in the picture let me know. There are 40 of them - so if you are researching Jefferson County around that time, you might be interested.
AlHill I wouldn't advertise the fact without checking the legalities, but you shouldn't have any trouble.
A63Sprint Only spreading a little but it's kinda close to downtown...
littlenell What names are ya'll researching?
AlHill Nell, if you offer the picture to the Henley Research Center in B'ham, they might help you with your grave search.
AlHill In AL, Hill, Woodroof, Walton, Bibb, Garrett, Gatling, and a zillion others, Nell. What about you?
littlenell I've also got another group picture - all men, some are holding small children. It's some thing like the mason's I think.
AlHill What's Philomathic?
littlenell Newell, Harden, Carlisle, Calhoun, so far
A63Sprint might be Oddfellows. Think they were big down there
