We went to Alabama last year,  and would like to go back again sometime soon

<huntsvilleADM>

I got this message from Martha says: I really would like to locate one of those hard to find people. I am looking for my g-g-grandfather,  George Washington PHILLIPS who was born in Fairfield County,  S. Carolina (so I was told) around 1806. That is the date on his cemetery headstone. I know where he is buried and I have information on him dating back to 1850. In 1850 he had brought his family to Cherokee County,  Texas a [msg continues in 20 sec

and that is where they lived and died. He married Mary Jane McCREIGHT and their marriage license was filed in Talladega,  Alabama in 1840. They were married before then because my g-grandfather was born in 1837. I think what happened is that he fell between the cracks in the census. He did not become the head of his household officially until the 1850 census in Cherokee County,  Texas. Until then,  he lived with his family an [msg continues in 20 sec

she can't get into the chat room and asked me to post for her....

<scalawag1867>

Hi all,  I signed on then went for a diet coke.

<huntsvilleADM>

d the census only named heads of households. What I want to determine is ""who was his family?"". His sons were named,  Robert,  Thomas,  William,  John,  Samuel Houston,  & George Washington Phillips, II. I have the information on all his 10 children. The family traveled through Georgia,  stayed a while in Alabama and then came on to Texas. Any help anyone can give me will certainly be appreciated. bobbyandmartha@juno.com [msg complete]
