<Charlotte> This was in Paint Rock area.

Yes, MizB
<Granny> Charlotte, most of my ancestors lived in the Paint Rock area. When was the
tornado?
<Granny> Me too, MizB...
<Granny> caltransient...glad to see you here!
<Charlotte> The newspaper article I read mentioned the Gurley/Paint Rock areas. 1920's
and 1932 stand out in my memory.

something?
<caltransient> glad to make it Granny
<Charlotte> Supposedly, my great-grandfather Davis's farm went from the Pain Rock

<Granny> Cyber, genforum.com is part of genealogy.com...it is the message board
section.

<CyberLemon> gotcha
<MizB> When we were in Scottsboro Hugh showed us 4 graves of people killed in a
tornado but don't remember the names Think they were in the Bynum Cem
<CyberLemon> Charlotte, if you arent sure of the date, you might try a tornado archive
site
<Granny> Charlotte, most of the Jackson County cemeteries are on line.
<CyberLemon> some of them have records of tornadoes for various areas
<Charlotte> I did and narrowed it down to 1920 and 1932. I believe I will try the
newspaper and pay for a copy of the article.
<CyberLemon> keep me posted on your progress
<Granny> Apparently some nasty tornadoes have hit Missouri and that area this
weekend.

April 20, 1920
<CyberLemon> I'm an old timer at this and can help
<CyberLemon> use that as your base Charlotte
<Charlotte> We were in the 1974 storms that devastated northern Alabama. It looked as
though a giant lawn mower had cleared a path across Monte Sano in Huntsville toward
the Little Cove Area.
<Granny> Charlotte, you might also try the Jackson County Historical Society.
<CyberLemon> yep, thats a good venue too
<Charlotte> Good idea. Thanks!!
<Granny> Charlotte...that must have been scary!!!
<CyberLemon> and they may have a copy of the story in their archives
<Charlotte> Possibly so--I believe the article was an Associated Press.
<CyberLemon> <---- was in Gainesville when Hurricane Elena hit in 1985
