Now my surname Waldrop

<Travis>

Waldrop - Where is that from?

<monal>

I am looking for CHAPMAN'S and Parkers in Limestone

<marfaTX>

RICHARDSON, CARPENTER, HALES, in Greene Co.

<nangirl>

Anyone near Washington County, Alabama?

<huntsvilleADM>

how long has everyone been doing genealogy research?

<Travis>

ADM - I got kicked out and couldn't get back in 2 weeks ago, and we were just getting back from California last week. I still owe you an email with Mark Grace's web site.

<Granny>

Not quite two years, ADM.

<CyberLemon>

<CyberLemon>

<nangirl>

About 8 years now, HuntsvilleADM

<Travis>

I have been at it for a little over 2 years.

<Granny>

Long enough to be hooked, right monal?

<Hugh>

About 3 years, ADM

<huntsvilleADM>

the computer has really changed things, hasn't it? Even if by just talking to others and getting their help via email and chats!

<Granny>

Well MizB, if we added up all our years, looks like you still have us beat!

<annaelycm>

Had Family Tree maker for longer than 2 years...but just never really got started till the last couple of years

<monal>

Granny........I was hooked after brother showed me pictures of G, Grand parents

<nangirl>

Starting with Joseph Ryon Waldrop, James Harry Waldrop, Sarah Baxter Waldrop, Minnie Lee Masters Waldrop

<CyberLemon>

puter helped, but the internet was such a leap from BBSes

<MizB>

I received part of a letter that I wrote in 1977 concerning one line of my family

<monal>

they had faces

<CyberLemon>

I'm amazed I have found so much since moving to California

<Granny>

My second cousin in TN just sent me an album that her father had that has tons of new pictures I have never seen from late 1800's early 1900's! Really thrilling!

<Travis>

Cyber - Where are you in CA. I used to live in Long Beach.

<CyberLemon>

that's neat Granny

<CyberLemon>

I'm in San Jose, the Heart of the Silicon Valley

<Travis>

I have heard of that!

<Granny>

Don't know why I figured everyone in here had been working in genealogy for a long time. Makes me feel better to know that others are still as new as me.

<huntsvilleADM>

I'm in the Silicon Valley of the South! Huntsville......

<CyberLemon>

we saw the boom and are riding the bust now

<CyberLemon>

hey, I love helping newbies get started

<monal>

Granny, I am waiting for my Dad's first cousins, extra family for family photos

<Granny>

CyberLemon...any luck job wise?

<CyberLemon>

with so much online and on cd, its so much easier now

<huntsvilleADM>

I think the computer has made it so easy, Granny, that just a couple years experience can now produce a LOT of information and contacts.

<Travis>

Well, I think a lot of people are riding the bust right now - But it will all come back - It's just a big cycle.

<CyberLemon>

sadly not Granny, one fell through and I'm hoping for another now

<Granny>

It sure has made things nice...I have met some terrific new cousins through the query boards!

<CyberLemon>

same here Granny

<Granny>

Good Luck, CyberLemon! Know the feeling!

<Travis>

Me 2, Granny.

<CyberLemon>

<huntsvilleADM>

<Travis>

My wife used to live in Columbus = Many years ago.

<huntsvilleADM>

well, you're within spitting distance, nangirl!

* Granny

MOTIONS/sad.gif I'm in Florida, which seems like a million miles away from Alabama when you want to do research there!

<CyberLemon>

its so much nicer with chats and queries... snail mail took so long

<Granny>

Largely due to the Internet, MizB?

<CyberLemon>

the Bama Archives have some great stuff

<huntsvilleADM>

and scanner are great, too, CyberLemon!

<Travis>

Well, I know that when I go to visit my mother, I lay out all of these plans, and usually do something different.

<Hugh>

I'm in the heart of Skyline Mtn, Jackson Co, Al

<marfaTX>

San Antonio is a long way from Alabama also

<Granny>

Scanners are awesome, ADM!
