<huntsvilleADM>

I spent 30 years in Iowa....but now I'm back in Alabama (where I belong!)

<Ali>

Yes, Travis - I remember! Good to ""see"" you again! Enjoyed our previous exchange a bunch! I have not forgotten! Nor has my son!

<Travis>

All of my family are in Winston, Walker, Cullman, Jefferson, and Tuscaloosa Counties.

<Granny>

I'm in Florida...hot, humid Florida!

<Grandpoppy>

Born in AL still here.

<huntsvilleADM>

Where are you, Grandpoppy?

<Travis>

Well, you will have to bring him to Luke if they ever get over this security kick that they're on.

<CyberLemon>

FLA beats cold, rainy Cali

<Grandpoppy>

Cullman, Alabama

<Cynthia>

Marriage c/ds AL #3 and 248 and MS 242.

<Travis>

Where in Cullman, GPoppy?

<Chica>

Wish I was too, I LOVE Alabama

<Granny>

Cyber...not the way we need some cooler weather, and we are desperate for rain!

<Ali>

I was able to get out of the dog house for last time by telling him of our conversation - he's counting on it!

<Travis>

Well, I'm looking forward to it, 2.

<Cynthia>

I still have many cousins in NW AL.

<huntsvilleADM>

Grandpoppy, have you been to the Shrine.....and to the Grotto? I have articles on both on this site.

<CyberLemon>

I know bout FLA's 3 year drought, feel bad for you guys

<Granny>

This summer was better, Cyber, but now we are all brown again!

<Wyn>

Chica I found Nathan Underhill's Mother Judie but not him

<Travis>

Well, if anyone is interested, AZ had record warm October & November.

<Wyn>

He's not there

<Granny>

I still have kin folks in Jackson County, several in Huntsville, and in Marion County, TN, just across the line from AL.

<huntsvilleADM>

Granny--when are you coming to Huntsville again?

<Chica>

Wyn do you happen to know her maiden name?

<huntsvilleADM>

again?

<Grandpoppy>

Chica, the local genealogy society has been able to obtain some of the cemetery records from churches. They have been included in the books. Even though a grave is unmarked, it might be listed. Also in Alabama if it was a Southern Baptist church, those records are at Sanford University in Birmingham. The United Methodist have some records at the Conference off ice in Birmingham.

<Wyn>

Taylor

<Wyn>

is her maiden name..first husband was David A. Steele

<Granny>

I hope in April, ADM. I want to make the reunion of the Langston Methodist Church that my ancestors helped build. I think it is the third week in April...will let you know!

<Cynthia>

Also have the books Old Huntsville Land Office Records and Military Warrants 1810-1854. Old land records for Lawrence and Limestone Counties, and Marriage, Death, and Legal Notices from Early American Newspapers 1819-1893.

<Grandpoppy>

Cullman is 50 miles north of Birmingham and 40 south of Huntsville on I65.

<Wyn>

don’t have her parents names though

<huntsvilleADM>

Ok, Granny--don't forget.

<Chica>

I found his death record in the death registry but not a grave.

<huntsvilleADM>

Grandpoppy--I thought Cullman was more than 40 miles from Huntsville.

<Granny>

Grandpoppy, do you know what the Conference is called or where in Birmingham it is located? Several Methodist Ministers from Alabama in my lines.

<Wyn>

chica are you speaking to me or another

<Cynthia>

Correction: that should read Early Alabama Newspapers.

<Grandpoppy>

I live at exit 310. Huntsville is at exit 340 and then into town on 565.

<Ali>

Anybody got any Marshall Co. connections? My Archibald Marion Preston got land there in 1891

<Chica>

Sorry Wyn I had two conversations going.

<Chica>

conversation.s

<Wyn>

ok

<Grandpoppy>

The offices are the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church at Birmingham-Southern College. My wife is the administrator of a Methodist church and I know they have some books that list previous ministers of the church.

<Travis>

Well, everyone, I have to go. I will be back next week. ADM, it's been a long time, did I ever send you the URL for Mark Grace's web site?

<Granny>

Grandpoppy, thanks so much for that information! I will contact them to see if I can find some information!

* Ali

* Granny

MOTIONS/sad.gif Nite, nite Travis...we'll miss you!

<huntsvilleADM>

No, Travis...you didn't.

<Chica>

Wyn, Do you have a death certificate, it might get you the parentage you seek.

<huntsvilleADM>

See ya next week, Travis!

<Travis>

OK. I will do it later tonight XXXX that's crossed fingers!!!

<huntsvilleADM>

Thanks, Ali......I sometimes wonder if it's worth the trouble....

<Ali>

Travis - be assured - I'll be in touch! Have a great week!

<Travis>

Good night, everyone.

<huntsvilleADM>

LOL, Travis.

<huntsvilleADM>

We have about 15 minutes left in chat....anyone have any special requests? or some brick wall you want to discuss?

<Ali>

ADM - it absolutely is! Keep it up! Most folks don't take time to say thanks - I've learned that on my sites that I kill myself transcribing records for - but they really do appreciate it!

* Granny

(Plays Sound: applause.wav) ADM....with all us faithfuls, how can you doubt it is worth the trouble???? You know we all love you!

* CyberLemon

MOTIONS/playful.gif can you play any Springsteen?

<Chica>

Have a brick wall with my Brinkley hall. I know about him in Alabama, but where was he in GA prior too.

<CyberLemon>

amen to that

<Cynthia>

If anyone knows of researching being done on Chandler's in AL, please refer them to this chat room as I will try to get back next week, hopefully earlier.

<huntsvilleADM>

Chica....is that a HALL? I have HALL's in Jackson Co.

<Granny>

ADM...if it weren't for this chat, I would not have connected with my second cousin on my WEBB line, and would have missed out on a lot!

<Ali>

My main brick wall is John Thomas Moore from Lamar Co/Fayette Co. AL: - Benjamin P. Wheeler is appt's his master in Fayette Co. AL in 1858 records - no known relation - who are his parents??? Census records say consistently he's b. SC as are his parents!

<Chica>

<Chica>

<huntsvilleADM>

Nite, Grandpoppy.......now that we have a poppy and a granny--we're all set!

<CyberLemon>

yea, this place has been good to me too

<CyberLemon>

<Ali>

I'm running too - anyone reading the transcripts that visits my sites will see the records I have available to lookup for folks! Happy hunting to all! Tks again ADM!

* Granny

MOTIONS/happy.gif Cyber, we know that you will be here if you can, but we are just all glad you are working, and will excuse an occasional miss!

<huntsvilleADM>

Chica--what county in Alabama were your HALL's?

<Granny>

Nite, nite, Ali...nice having you here!

<Wyn>

how about the health depts. can you get a death record in any county?

<Chica>

They came to Russell, then to Chambers where they stayed.

<CyberLemon>

yea, if I can sneak out at 5:15 I can make it in

<Granny>

Wyn, you have to send to the capital for death records. If you go into your search engine until Vital Records, and look under AL, it will tell you where and I believe that they have a form you can print out.
