hi guest 1421

<Guest1421>

Hi Foxie,  Is this the North Alabama Genealogy Chat room?

<foxie>

I think so.......it is my first time here.

<Guest1421>

This is my first time. Is Genealogy your interest?

<foxie>

Yes..I have been doing it for over 25 yrs now!

<Guest1421>

You must be in the pro stage

<Guest1421>

I have 15 years

<foxie>

I have brickwall about 1850...hope someone in the North Alabama are can help me!

<Guest1421>

What States? Alabama I would assume is one.

<foxie>

Ten and Ky

<Guest1421>

From NC to TN and KY?

<foxie>

Shelton,  Harwell and Cox surnames

<foxie>

yes

<foxie>

yes from North Carolina

<Guest1421>

Cox married who?

<foxie>

Martha Cox married James Shelton

<foxie>

Martha Cox was from Ky and I don’t know where James Shelton was born........we think in Ten

<foxie>

James and Martha were on the 1850 Limestone Co Al census in 1850

<foxie>

with their children including my great grandfather Clayborne P Shelton

<Guest1421>

I have Thomas Edward Cox from Hawkins Co.,  TN who married Lauret Marie Kite

<foxie>

I wish I knew who Martha’s parents or siblings were

<foxie>

I have no idea

<Guest1421>

Died in Fannin Co.,  TX

<foxie>

But on the 1850 census she says she is from Ky

<foxie>

my great-grandfather C P Shelton came to Collin Co TX abt 1880.

<Guest1421>

How about Henry Shelton,  Fayette County,  AL

<foxie>

I don't know...............most of my relatives that I am sure of were in Limestone Co Al and Giles Co. Ten

<foxie>

And it all goes back to the fact we don't know who James parents were.

<Guest1421>

I know very little about these Shelton’s,  I have some from NC and VA. one in 1700s who married Lanier in VA

<foxie>

My brother has done the DNA tests

<foxie>

We now have 25 people we know we are related to.

<foxie>

Now to get them together and check out records!

<Guest1421>

Do you have proof other than the DNA? This is interesting.

<foxie>

No...before the DNA we had no idea who we were related to.

<foxie>

We just know what Shelton now we descend from

<foxie>

but I still don’t know who my gg grandfathers parents were!

<Guest1421>

I believe you said you had not participated in this chat before? Are you in Alabama? I am in Georgia

<foxie>

No,  I have never been in here before.

<foxie>

<foxie>
