Huntsville's Picture of the Week
Victorian Christmas House
The Humphreys-Rodgers House is located at 109 Gates Avenue in downtown Huntsville, behind EarlyWorks Children's Museum. Every year it is made festive for a Victorian-style Christmas.
David C. Humphreys built the original 3-bay structure in 1848. In 1866, Augustus D. Rodgers bought the house and enlarged it. It now has two parlors (above and below).
The house was donated to the Alabama Constitution Village Foundation by Coca-Cola, Inc. and moved to its present location. Every Christmas it is decorated in Victorian holiday finery. Every Saturday during the holiday season, children can enjoy "Tiny Tim's Porch"--a holiday make-and-take craft area.
The beautiful dining room was decorated by Lawren's and Bishop's Flowers and is available for luncheons for up to 25 people by reservation. For more information, call (256) 564-8100.
