A very, VERY pleasant way to while away an hour or two can be found at "Best of British." You don't have to wait for the so-called "high teas," for Martyn is open most days for lunch or afternoon repasts.

PG Tips is a very good tea...and a cream tea, where one can get Devon (or is it double Devon?) cream for their scone, is one of our favorites! Blackcurrant jam is the perfect topping. It has a very unique, none-too-sweet taste.

The hot meals (pies and such), many of them imported from the Isles, are pretty good, too, though some, if not all, of our party wished a few more of the marrowfat peas could be found on their plates. Lunch is lunch, after all, and not a snack.

But long live B.o.B! Like a day-trip, a good massage, or a dip in a hot tub, this respite is both a bit of relaxation and a bit of escape. If you've enjoyed our hustle and bustle long enough, you'll need it sooner or later. And it’s a great place for a special, dine-out occasion…from a little holiday group reunion to a mother-daughter outing to a business lunch on the fly. Try it out. Really.
