The Medical Arts Collection--This collection chronicles the practice of medicine in North Alabama from 1840 to 1940 and includes donations from a wide variety of sources. Here you'll find surgical tools, medical books, a Civil War surgeon's bag, and pharmaceuticals from a hundred years of medical advancement from folk medicine to modern medicine.

On a more personal note, portraits of my great-great-grandparents, Isaiah and Martha Dill, are hanging in the dining room of the Burritt Mansion. They were painted by noted artist William Frye, who was known for his technique of painting the eyes looking straight ahead so that they seem to be looking at one from any point in the room and the charactistic plain background. Isaiah was the Chancellor for North Alabama during the Civil War and Martha was a local artist.

Stop by the Burritt Museum and Park often throughout the year for special events and exciting displays and exhibits.
