I was excited when my friend and I finally got into Cafe Baba for lunch. It wasn't easy--there is always a line waiting for a table in this small but popular restaurant. We had tried several times to eat here. In fact, we'd tried four times--coming at different times to see if there might be a slow day or time that would work. With all the great restaurants in Huntsville, I just refuse to stand and wait for a table. This time it worked because we put our name on the list and then went and ran some errands.

The food at Cafe Baba's is superb--I had the salmon crepe. My only complaint is that the portions are small. I admit I have a big appetite...but even my friend, who usually doesn't clean her plate, was still hungry and ready for dessert when she had finished. And that's when my worse nightmare began!

Cafe Baba's is known for their great desserts. After taking a picture and discussing the many possibilities with my friend, I finally picked out a sumptuous chocolate creation. Just as the man behind the counter was getting ready to dish it up for me, one waitress yelled across the room that she had just sold that to someone at her table. Well, it was the last piece and without an apology or anything, they preceded to give the other person the dessert. I felt that it was mine because it was still in the case and I was standing right there beside it. Needless to say, I lost my enthusiasm for Cafe Baba's after this and just sat and talked with my friend while she ate her dessert. Of course, they didn't know I was there to evaluate the place....but given the fact that it's hard to get a table, the portions are small and you have to be willing to arm-wrestle for dessert, I guess I won't be going back to this place. If you're more willing to fight for your lunch, you might just enjoy this place! Now take a look at where I finally got my dessert that day!
