Historic Homes Tour Part of Chautauqua Celebration 612 Holmes Avenue- Mr. and Mrs. Mike Gillespie Home
Henry Chase, the president of Chase Nurseries, erected
the shingle-covered house in 1914. A tapered chimney and retaining wall of uncut stone distinguish the
exterior. Two stone piers support an overhanging gable. Inside, the homes exceptional
craftsmanship, evident in paneled walls, coffered ceilings, and built-in alcoves, personifies the popular Arts and
Crafts style of the time.
