After my traumatic day at Cafe Baba's, I still wanted dessert. After my friend dropped me off at my house, I was still thinking about that chocolate sensation that had been snatched away from me. I tried to think WHERE I could go to get a similar dessert. Then finally it occurred to me: D & L Bistro! I had been meaning to check this restaurant out (as you can tell, I'm way behind on my eating-out duties!) and I knew they would have good desserts. It was after 2:00 and I was just hoping they would still be opened.
When I got out of my car at D & L Bistro, I just happened to meet the dessert chef, Michael Crain, coming out the front door! I just told him that I had been traumatized at Cafe Baba's and could I come in and just have dessert. How soothing to have him kindly invite me in and let me look at the menu. He enthusiastically recommended their Tiramisu. Mike Kaylor of the Huntsville Times had written that D & L Bistro's Tiramisu was the best in Huntsville. Although I'm not a big chocolate fan, I was leaning toward chocolate that day and was thinking about having their Chocolate Eruption, but I finally went with the chef's recommendation and ordered the Tiramisu.
It was splendid! How relaxing to sit in the beautiful, quiet restaurant and enjoy a specially prepared dessert with a charming waiter and an excellent chef. Yes, I'll be back for lunch at D & L Bistro! Thanks, Mike, for taking in a dessert-deprived citizen and soothing my soul.
