Lovely looking place, but many problems with formatting. This was our second time at the restaurant returning after having a great dinner previously. We had met the manager, Michael, a nice Australian man, the night we came in for dinner and they made the experience very comfortable.

On this occasion for lunch, however, the owner, Doug Gooch, who made it very clear upon entering that this was HIS restaurant made it seem that my wife and I would walk out of the restaurant if he didn't walk us through every step of the lunch ordering process. It seemed that the manager was not on duty for the day yet.

We ended up waiting for 25 minutes for an entree special for myself and a pizza for my wife. Unfortunately the special instructions that we had given for the pizza were not followed through with and the rice that was with the fish special was hard and not "fresh" it seemed. The owner snapped at one of the staff members when they informed him of our poor quality of food, then turned around and put on a happy face and insisted that our entire meal would be refunded to us and we would have fresh food made at once. All we wanted was some fresh rice, the fish was fine. We found this insulting that he felt it necessary to comp out $28 in food and then take another 10 minutes of our time to wait for new food to be made. I would have been happy to just pick out the bad parts and eat it as it was, but he insisted that it would not be ok to do that.

So after 50 minutes in the restaurant we left in disgust that the owner was there like he was part of the staff and running the show. I could see a privately owned restaurant like this going under (shutting down) if at all often, the owner offers twice the amount of food essentially for no money. We didn't even pay for the glass of wine each that we had.

I would not recommend to anyone to go back for fear of poorly prepared food and disorganized ownership. I hope the owner will consider things more clearly before giving all the food away for free. Try to go if Michael, the manager, is there for he was much more considerate of our own conversation at our table whereas the owner was constantly interrupting us ensuring our food was almost ready. Give me a break, please.
