Just 30 minutes from Huntsville in Fayetteville, Tennessee is a delightful tea room. Karen and Bill Somervill first opened the Frog & I Gift Shop in July 2000. A year later, they expanded their business and opened the Lilypad Tea Room.
I have to admit that my favorite place to eat is a tea room. It's hard to find one in Huntsville. I was thrilled to find the Lilypad Tea Room in nearby Fayetteville. The restaurant is located in a strip mall. I had been expecting to find it in a cute little Victorian house, so I was a bit skeptical of what I might find inside.
I like good food, but if it's served in an ugly environment, it loses something for me. I'd rather have mediocre food in a beautiful setting any day. Thank goodness the Lilypad Tea Room scores high on decor and cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw inside. A fountain complete with frog and lilypad is the focal point of the room.
