This play effectively uses an adult to portray the child Michael in the show. Harry Thomson narratives the show and also participates as the voice of the child in several scenes. This unusual twist works well for this production.

Rounding out the cast is Eugene Banks as the stumbling, bumbling Father Jack, who has returned home from the mission field after a severe case of malaria. He is confused and often at a loss for words. He innocently asks Chris after finding out that she's not married, "Do you have any other love children?"

Sean Dineen portrays the ladies man as Gerry, the father of Chris' "love child." He is handsome and debonair in this role and brings a lot of sparkle to Ballyberg village.

Most plays have far more people working "behind the scenes" than onstage. This is Director Harry Delugach's third production, having won a Wings award for directing "To Kill A Mockingbird."

Heather Bond is "Dancing at Lughnasa's" Assistant Director and David French is Stage Manager, with Randy Duff serving as Assistant Stage Manager. Crew members include Rick Coleman, Cynthia Meyer, Ingrid Goree, Mike Clem, Tim Adams, Heather Huber, Janet Sudnik, Anne Clem, Susan Coleman, Debbi Pitt Alley, Jenne Pool, Kaye Smith, Lee Hicklen, Toni Bench, Pat Blackman, Barry King, Nancy Morris, Karl Sackett, Jackob Stephanson, Robert Stephanson, Nancy Morris, Anne Clem , Jay Dauro, Jeff White, and Kim Brown.

"Dancing at Lughnasa" will be performed on the VBC playhouse stage July 13-15 and 19-21. Show times are 7:30 p.m. except for the 15th, which is a 2 p.m. matinee. Tickets are $12. Children and seniors can get in for $10 and there are group discounts available.
