Art Stephenson, Director of NASA Marshall Space Flight Center narrated "The Unseen Majesty of Science" produced by Carleton Public Relations, Inc. The Unseen Majesty of Space shows the beauty and creativity of NASA science and engineering in such projects as space exploration, the Hubble Space Telescope, the Chandra X-Ray Observatory and mathematical fractals.
The Metro Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Gary Parks, provided the music. Solos were performed by Walter Robinson, Saxophone; Tony Mason, Guitar and Vocals; and Ian McCalister, Keyboard. The show finale concluded with the popular "Star Wars."

An activity workbook for 6th Graders in five North Alabama counties (Madison, Marshall, Morgan, Limestone and Jackson) were distributed. The workbooks show how the artistic process is similar to successful scientific experiments. Both incorporate creativity, imagination, curiosity, patience, attention to detail and honesty.

The Von Braun Forum also sponsored a creative writing competition for all students in 5th through 12th grades in the categories of Poetry, Short Story and Essay. Each entry had to include the phrase "unseen majesty of science." The winners were Olivia Fadul, grade 11, from Lee High School in the category of poetry; Jessica Wells, grade 12, from Lee High School in the essay category; and Jenna Wilson, Grade 7, from Arab Jr. High School in the short story category.

We are indeed fortunate that first, we had Dr. Wernher von Braun in Huntsville where we could witness him firsthand make an incredible contribution to science, mankind, and the nation. Secondly, that Marshall Space Flight Center is still offering outstanding help and support to children to keep the majesty of science alive. We didn't have this much opportunity when I was in school. I hope the students are taking advantage of their opportunity.
