On Saturday, September 21, 2002, The Burritt Museum Guild will hold their first Monte Sano Mountain Homes Tour.  Six homes and one garden are featured  on the tour.  For tickets, call 256-536-2882.

This charming home was built in 1888 as a naturalist's retreat in the Monte Sano woods for Willis Cabiness by his father and brother.  The original structure was a double-pen, two-story dogtrot log house.

- Mary Ann & Gene Ezell House

The kitchen, dining room and bathroom, added in 1927, were hopelessly dilapidated when purchased by the Ezells.  Using the same footprint, Gene, Mary Ann, and sons Ben and Curt, rebuilt and extensively renovated the house between 1985 and 1998.  The house is beautifully decorated and furnished predominantly with mid-19th century family antiques.
