I have eaten at the Cafe Paris twice.  The first time I would give it a 4 and the 2nd time a 2.  The first time with 2 other people  the food and service were excellent.  The 2nd time with a party of 6 at 1:00,  the same day as the Huntsville Times critique, the experience was not a good one.  We had to request 3 times to please take our order only to find out they were out of 2 of the entries ordered. When the food did arrive we were told they were out of the rice to accompany several of the entries  and would we like some
mashed potatoes.  One of the salads on the tri-salad plate seemed to be missing the meat ingredient.  The waiter said it was not supposed to have it and the Hostess checked and said it was supposed to be included  and they would remedy the recipe in the future.  No accommodation was made at this time.  The fish portions on 3 entries, although tasty were very small. I guess the secret is to arrive early before they run out of food for the day.

This is now one of our favorite restaurants in Huntsville. We have only had one less than favorable experience out of at least ten visits. On that particular Sunday they had a new chef who was not happy we were told with the ingredients he had and had sent out for ingredients and food was served slow (but good).

I am a frequent visitor to Cafe Paris at lunch. I am a fan of the Bouillabaisse. However, the portions I receive have varied dramatically. This soup is served in a large bowl as a meal. No sides come with the meal other than the complimentary bread. The first time I ordered the $8.95 soup the portion filled about 1/3 of the bowl. I thought that it was light but didn't say anything. The next time I ordered the same soup the portion was a reasonable amount for $8.95 filling about 2/3 of the bowl. The third and last time I ordered the soup the portion was ridiculous. There was probably 1/3 cup of soup in the bowl and the portion filled up less than 1/4 of the bowl. It was almost humorous. I asked the waitress what she thought and she graciously sent the manager over. The manager said she had noticed the small portions at another table and would send out more. However, the waitress told me that it would take 20 minutes to prepare and I could chose another soup. Maybe they were low on the fisherman's soup that day and were dishing out small portions. I would rather be told that they were out. The service was good though.
