The band for the event was Five O'clock Charlie. Star 99 Radio , Knology, Lockheed Martin and All Needz were the top sponsors for the 2002 "Paws in the Park." The Cajun Colonel provided food at the park. New Orleans Shaved Ice served wonderful desserts.

Mary Ultz from Animal Services was the Emcee. Businesses and people of Huntsville and Madison county donated all the wonderful gifts to go as prizes at the event.  During the "Paws in the Park" event there is on-site adoptions of dogs, a band on stage, pet costume contest, door prizes, food, and merchandise booths.

The Greater Huntsville Humane Society is a "no kill" shelter for abandoned animals. They work to educate the public of proper care for pets and the importance to Spay and Neuter.  The Greater Huntsville Humane Society's Thrift Store is open Monday through Saturday from 8 until 4. The Shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11-4.   They take care of dogs, kittens, rabbits, birds, and occasionally other domestic animals.
