When Rolo's (on Airport Rd) first opened, the food was excellent. The choo-choo of a train overhead is a nice touch. But time has passed this the initial opening and the food has become disappointing in some areas. Today (Saturday), my wife and I came at 12:45. The lunch crowd was non-existent.

The first mistake was that we asked to be seated for 4 people. We were not asked where we wanted smoking or non-smoking. We were placed in the middle of the restaurant; right next to the smokers. Ugh.

The food was great in some areas and absolutely horrible in others. My wife ordered the pork and I ordered the smoked chicken. Both were VERY good and tender. The baked beans were good too. Unfortunately, the green beans had definitely been sitting the pot a tad too long and were mush. The mashed potatoes tasted pretty bad; they tasted like real potatoes but a few days old and heavily watered down. The chocolate pie was alright; Gibson's is better. The peach cobbler was yummy!

The service was good (glasses were kept full, extra napkins for the greasy stuff, and the meal arrived in a timely manner). Our waiter was not much of the smiling type. She never did give us her name, nor was she wearing a name tag. Thus, it made it a bit difficult to get her attention when we needed to fix a mistake in our order or order dessert.

The price was reasonable; about $6 a meal with water. Selection of food was OK. I would have liked to seen more "greens" in the vegetables. But the meat selection was great. If the potatoes were better, I would return again.
