It had been years since we had a sub at Stanlieo's,
so we thought we'd give it a try today for lunch. We went to the
restaurant on Jordan Lane, for lunch there was a good crowd but we were able to
order right away. We ordered a Steak Combo and Steak Kabob, which both
include sliced steak, Provolone cheese, grilled onions, green peppers, pickles,
tomatoes and oregano on a fresh bun. We both chose the 10" (7"
is the smaller). Our food was ready in less than 8 minutes, I ordered
onion rings and Tom got the fries.
We were quite impressed. Tom had never had one and pronounced his better
than Subway or Subzone, and better than Publix as well. He loved it, as did I.
You get plenty of meat, cheese and veggies, and there was no dry bread by itself
- it was all covered with great stuff. I couldn't believe I ate the whole
thing - 10 inches! And I have to say the onion rings were the best I've
ever had - crisp, small, delicious, not too greasy with the right amount of
onion to breading. For both of us with a drink it was about $12 - very
reasonable. Service is very good, and the friendly staff makes you feel
like coming back, when you're off your diet again.
