| "Terra Nova" Explores The South Pole | |
|
As the play progresses, the audience sees the courage, determination, hallucinations, struggles and frustrated dreams of these men.

The set for this play is stark, with ample use of white sheets to resemble the vast bleakness of the snow-covered land. I commented to one stagehand that it must have been a simple set to assemble. He stated that it was a lot harder than it looks.

Lighting is used to add some color to the big-screen and the set. A dramatic picture of the real South Pole team is splashed across the screen at one point.
Dress warm when you go to see this production. The actors portray a realistic view of the cold, frozen Artic weather. Their faces appear chapped by the wind. They are bundled in heavy coats, gloves, scarves, and boots. The howling wind sends chills down your spine.

Actors in "Terra Nova" include William F. Hubscher as Captain Robert Falcon Scott, Phillip Jackson Thames as Raold Amundsen, Peter-John Slighting as Petty Officer Evans, Kevin O'Brien as Lt. Bowers, John Hancock as Captain Oates, Phillip Parker as Dr. Wilson, and Kelly Sims as Kathleen Scott.

Donald Becht served as Assistant Director, Richard Coleman as Technical Director, Tamara Fegenbush designed costumes, and Virginia Poole and Heather Huber were in charge of props. Samuel Marsh and Michelle Allen were Stage Managers, with Jay Dauro working on Lights and Tim Adams in charge of Sound.

Performances are in the VBC playhouse in Huntsville October 25-27 and November 1-3. For tickets and other information, call the Theatre Huntsville office at 536-0807
