Tips for Week of February 24, 2005

THINGS I LEARNED THIS WEEK:

  • The new Judge Crater's Restaurant will open the first week in March on Southside Square downtown Huntsville.

  • Will Alabama do it again on "American Idol"? Rocker, Bo Bice, is from the Birmingham area and in the men's finals.

  • Good news: On February 17th, The New York Times bought About.com for $410 million. The New York Times Company also owns WHNT-TV, Channel 19 in Huntsville and three Alabama newspapers: The Gadsden Times, TimesDaily in Florence, and The Tuscaloosa News

  • The three Alabama contestants on "Survivor: Palau" are Ibrehem Rahman, 27, a Birmingham waiter; Bobby Jon Drinkard, 27, a waiter and model from Troy, and James Miller, 33, a steelworker who lives in Mobile.

  • Watch Feb. 26 at 9 pm as 15 finalists head to Alabama to braise, bake, broil, and battle for $100,000 in the Food Network's "Southern Living Showdown".
