There are a lot of things to learn about a city in order to live there successfully.  Sometimes it takes years to find out some of the "secrets" and tricks to living a good life.  I share tips in every issue of my weekly newsletter

If you know some good tips, please send them to me via email. I hope you find something useful to you here and feel more at home in Huntsville.

Tips for Week of April 15, 2004

THINGS I LEARNED THIS WEEK:

  • America is getting fatter & fatter and Alabama, with 24.5% obesity and another 37.2% overweight, is the 7th fattest state in the nation. Let's get healthy!

  • The President's Challenge is a program that encourages all Americans to make being active part of their everyday lives. Visit the website where you can log your activities and win fitness awards. Go, Huntsville!

  • You can eat healthier now at several of the fast food restaurants:

  • Burger King has new fresh salads on their menu, plus low-carb (bunless) burgers and low-fat Fire-Grilled Chicken Baguettes. Remember at BK you can "have it your way." Seven regular selections are 380 calories or less.

  • Hardees has the low-carb Thickburgers and a low-carb Breakfast in a Bowl.

  • Subway has 2 Atkins wraps, 2 carb-controlled salads and 2 low-fat salads.

  • Wendy's Garden Sensations Salads was one of the first healthy choices of the fast food restaurants.
