Tips, Tricks and Secrets to Living in
Huntsville
|
 |
|
There are a lot of things to learn about a city in order to live there
successfully. Sometimes it takes years to find out some of the
"secrets" and tricks to living a good life. I share tips in
every issue of my weekly
newsletter.
If you know some good tips,
please send them to me via email. I
hope you find something useful to you here and feel more at home in Huntsville.
Tips for Week of July 1,
2004
THINGS I LEARNED THIS WEEK:
-
The
Baby Depot department of Burlington Coat Factory has the biggest
selection of baby and toddler clothes with the best prices that I've found,
especially if you're looking for christening gowns or little tuxedoes.
-
CHEAP(ER)GAS:
With the price of gas these days, we can't afford to drive around looking
for the best price. Now you can go to GasBuddy.com or here for current
Alabama gas prices provided by local drivers like you and me. BTW, I
usually find gas 10-15 cents cheaper in Meridianville or on my way to my
sister's house across the Tennessee River.
-
Good
News/Bad News: Best Buy has a wonderful site where you can track your
computer or other electronics sent off for repairs: Best
Buy Services. The Bad News? Dropping off or picking up your items
may take forever because their service line in Huntsville is so slow--only
two people. It took me two trips and long waits to retrieve my digital
camera that was being held hostage there!
-
Show
support for our troops by wearing red each & every Friday until
our young men and women come home.
-
ALL
Kids is a low-cost children's health insurance program that provides
coverage for quality medical care including preventive, dental and vision
care. Eligible children must be under the age of 19 and live in families
whose incomes are above Medicaid eligibility levels and below 200 percent of
the federal poverty level. For more information, call the ALL Kids
administrative offices toll free at 1-877-774-9521.
-
Congratulations
if you have tickets for this weekend's "Rally Round the Flag"
concert at Whitesburg Baptist Church. After four unanswered phone calls to
get information about a possible story, I decided to "stop in."
Not any better--the receptionist never really followed up on my inquiry and
started helping others; so after waiting 20 minutes, I dusted the dirt off
my sandals and left... Some churches are just TOO big!
