There are a lot of things to learn about a city in order to live there
successfully. Sometimes it takes years to find out some of the
"secrets" and tricks to living a good life. I share tips in
every issue of my weekly
newsletter.
If you know some good tips,
please send them to me via email. I
hope you find something useful to you here and feel more at home in Huntsville.
Tips for Week of August 12,
2004
THINGS I LEARNED THIS WEEK:
-
In a
survey of America's
Most Literate Cities with a population over 200,000, Birmingham
ranked #18 and Montgomery was #38. Not back for what most people think
is an illiterate state!
-
I was
raised here but always wondered about "Sand Mountain."
Here's one definition: Sand Mountain is Albertville, Boaz, and generally
anything between Guntersville and Gadsden on or near highway 231. It is a
big long flat mountain.
-
If
you love TV like I do, you might enjoy this site I found. TV
Tome is an attempt to create the greatest current and past TV
episode and actor guide ever. If you have some free time, you might want to
become a volunteer editor for your favorite show or actor.
-
Since
there are 103 languages spoken in Huntsville, some of you might be
interested in this: Walgreens now offers prescription instructions
printed in your choice of languages: English, Spanish, Chinese,
French, Polish, Portuguese, Russian or Vietnamese.
-
Rehearsals
of the new Decatur Youth Symphony begin in September. To receive
audition requirements and more information, and to download an audition
application, visit Decatur
Parks and Recreations.
-
Huntsville
Hospital is in desperate need of Type 0+ and B+ blood. Consider
donating today!
