There are a lot of things to learn about a city in order to live there
successfully. Sometimes it takes years to find out some of the
"secrets" and tricks to living a good life. I share tips in
every issue of my weekly

THINGS I LEARNED THIS WEEK:

Crestwood
Medical Center is offfering a free once-a-month education series on
managing menopause called Red
Hot Mamas. For more information, call 880-4540.

One
Soldier's Journal: Frank Myers
from Birmingham is documenting of his year serving in the US Army in
Iraq. You can follow along with him on his journey and send encouraging
messages.

Fox
54 will hold auditions for Alabama Idol (for ages 16-28) in
Huntsville at Madison Square Mall on August 28 and at Regency Square Mall in
Florence on September 18. Both auditions will begin with registration at 11
a.m. and auditions from 12-2 p.m.

The
Big Lots on North Parkway is moving into the old Wal-Mart building on
North Parkway on September 1st.

The
old Redstone Credit Union building at Haysland Square is being
remodeled into office spaces.

The
last scheduled Usher Training Class for the BTL Season will be at 6
p.m. this Friday, August 27 in the Ballet Room at the VBC. No prior
registration required. The VBC requires all volunteers to attend a class
each year in order to be able to usher in the Concert Hall or
Playhouse.

The
Passion of the Christ comes out on DVD/Video on August 31.
